The Social Media

The social networking has gained momentum in our country from around 5 years ago and is a great hit among the masses. Almost everyone is a part of it.

But, I believe, it never remained true to its motto. It never lived upto its real expectations. At least, so is the case in India, as far as my knowledge is concerned.

I strongly feel that we people are great at diplomacy. We use something as it best suits us and not as per its purpose of use. Mostly, we tend to use a strong tool from its destructive end. The case with the social media is no different.

The ill-effects of misusing the social sites have already started to come up. I am not talking about cyber scams and scandals but a change in the general mindset of the people. We are observing a drastic decline in the quality of thoughts, language and general attitude of the society.

The worst affected are the children in the early teens. The young, fresh, innocent and clean minds are hampered the most. The social media, in the way it is being used, is making the children mentally impaired.

I do not hesitate in saying that we have made Facebook a big junkyard. How can we expect someone to talk intelligently who has grown up amidst all the junk of the society. With all the obscenity and filth being filled in the innocent and empty minds, we cannot expect the youth of our country to reach the superhuman feats.

As per today, the social media is killing the intellect and creating tonnes of mental garbage and if the same continues it would become nearly impossible to cleanse our minds of this filth.

I am in favour of monitoring of social sites; not only quantitatively but also qualitatively.

The social networking sites are the place where ideas and thoughts are exchanged so as to enhance one's mental level. They are not a place to vent out all your frustrations. The social media is your voice. Speak, but please do not shout.

PS You may have to, one day, pay a huge price for uploading every selfie with those shitty captions and editing.
