The People We Inspire

The success of a life, superficially, is measured in the materialistic assets that could be accumulated over a time. However, this monetary success and stability and acquisition of assets that count come at a later time in life; almost when we have live lived half of our time here. Also, these things do not really matter and are not really essential for someone to be called successful in their life.

But until we reach the point where we can call ourselves to be leading a successful life, in terms that seem proper to us, how do we know that we are on the right track to success? How can we know what needs to be done in order to be successful? What is the measure of success of our lives that we have lived until now? How do we know that at this point of our life, are we successful or have we just wasted the years?

I would like to measure the success in terms of the people we inspire. Note that this must not be confused with making someone live their life in your way. The inspiration I talk about here does not need to change the life of a person or say their whole outlook and perspective towards the world, but it should enable them to find it out on their own. It should make them have more belief in themselves. And this can be achieved in the simplest forms possible. Things like recommending someone a good book, or shaping their interest in classic music, or making them take up a hobby as per their personality, or helping someone write a poem or a blog, can all inspire people to achieve greatness and the best part of it is that the reason behind someone else's greatness will be you. Believe me, when a person credits their success or achievement to you, you will know no greater joy than that.

So, keep inspiring people and know that you are headed to the right way; and to quote Bukowski, "We're here to live our lives so well that death would tremble to take us".

PS I would like to express my thankfulness to a few people who have inspired me to follow my interests and helped me in shaping them by introducing me to a few good things there are in life worth living for.
